Jimmée believes in the importance of teaching the student first, then the subject. This idea is her guiding principle in crafting every clarinet and bass clarinet lesson. Her goal is to take her own intense focus and study of the clarinet and positive mindset and apply this to help her students with their own goals and dreams, to help them make the music they want to make. She strives to bring out the best in every student with encouragement and positive feedback–and to make playing the clarinet fun. Jimmée’s philosophy is that music is a beautiful gift artists give to the world, and we ALL are artists.
Jimmée maintains an active orchestral freelancing career, including performing with the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Carmel Bach Festival, the Peninsula Symphony, the Palo Alto Philharmonic, and the chamber group Master Symphonia. She graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles, as a clarinet performance major. Her major clarinet influences have been her teachers: David Breeden (former principal, San Francisco Symphony); Gary Gray (former principal, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and Grammy nominee); Ginger Kroft (principal, Sacramento Philharmonic); and Jerome Simas (principal bass clarinetist, San Francisco Symphony).
